Admissions

    Discovery Montessori School has been in operation since 1987 and provides an excellent educational and childcare service for Akron and the surrounding areas. Our school's admission policy is based on Dr. Maria Montessori's educational concepts. 
    Discovery Montessori School is a private, non-discriminatory, and non-profit school for children between the ages of 2 1/2 and 12 years. We serve a broad range of students without regard to race, religion, socioeconomic status, cultural backgrounds or ability.

Pre-Primary Program

  • Children should be 2 1/2 years old at time of admission and preferably toilet trained.

 
 
Primary Program
  • Generally children must be between the ages of 3 and 5 by their start date.
Kindergarten Program

  • Generally children must be between the ages of 5 by their start date.





Elementary Program
  • Children must be between the ages of 6 and 12 by their start date.
  • Previous Montessori experience for a minimum of one year is preferred.
  • Official records from the present school are required.
Application and Admissions Procedure

1. Requests for applications are taken both by telephone or in person.

2. An information packet consisting of brochures stating the philosophy and objectives of Montessori education, a fee statement along with additional information will be given to interested parents.

3. Observation of a class by prospective parents can be scheduled Monday through Friday of each week. Every effort is made to schedule them for the parents convenience.

4. Enrollment of students is made on a first-come first-serve basis with the following exceptions:
 returning students are given priority, followed by the siblings and alumni and their associates.

5. After the admission process has been completed, specific trial periods and evaluation procedures may be established on an individual basis.
